Ian
Marshall has been active in Cornish music since moving to Looe in 1963 with his
wife and four children.
He has played (cello, cornet, percussion) in
various local bands and orchestras, led a folk group (Three`s Company)
and formed
choirs specialising in Cornish folksong.
He has also conducted and arranged
music for many amateur societies, including Liskeard Operatic,
Callington and Liskeard Bands, and The Carmenians of Plymouth.
Immediately on his
retirement from teaching and lecturing, Ian fulfilled an ambition to `do
something macho`
by qualifying as a windsurfing instructor,
and taught the sport for a time.
His unique multi-track performances of 21 SONGS OF CORNWALL
can be heard on
a popular CD (pictured) For details, click the link below.
"The Amazing Story of THE
FLORAL DANCE"
is Ian`s
first book, born of a great personal affection for the song and a fascination
with its
ongoing popularity in various guises, ninety years after it was written!
